1. Who we are and what QuizCards is

QuizCards ("we", "us", "our") is a UK-based educational platform that helps students learn through voice-powered quizzes. Teachers can create quiz decks and students can practise answering them using speech-to-text or by typing.

Our website is www.quizcards.co.uk and the app is available at app.quizcards.co.uk.

By creating an account or using QuizCards, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

QuizCards is designed for students, teachers, and educators. To use QuizCards you must be aged 11 or over.

If you are aged 13 to 17, we recommend that your school or parent/guardian is aware that you are using QuizCards.

If you are a teacher or school administrator, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of QuizCards with students complies with your school's policies and any applicable safeguarding requirements.

3. Your account

To use QuizCards, you need to create an account. When you do, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and up-to-date information (your real name and a valid email address)
• Keep your password secure and not share it with anyone
• Let us know straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account
• Not create more than one account per person

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you are a teacher managing student accounts, you are responsible for ensuring those accounts are used appropriately.

4. Acceptable use

QuizCards is an educational tool. We expect everyone to use it responsibly. When using QuizCards, you agree not to:

• Use the platform for anything other than educational purposes
• Harass, bully, or abuse other users
• Upload content that is offensive, harmful, discriminatory, or inappropriate
• Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or interfere with the platform or its security
• Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access QuizCards
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
• Use QuizCards to send spam or unsolicited messages
• Do anything that breaks the law or encourages others to do so

If we find that you are breaking these rules, we may suspend or permanently remove your account (see section 10).

5. Intellectual property

The QuizCards platform — including its design, code, branding, logo, and all original content — belongs to QuizCards. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the platform without our written permission.

The name "QuizCards", our logo, and our visual design are our intellectual property and may not be used without permission.

We respect the intellectual property of others. If you believe that any content on QuizCards infringes your copyright, please contact us at info@quizcards.co.uk.

6. User-generated content

By creating content on QuizCards, you grant us a limited licence to host, display, and share your content within the platform as needed to provide the service (for example, making your quiz available to students you have shared it with).

You are responsible for ensuring that the content you create:

• Does not infringe anyone else's copyright or intellectual property
• Is appropriate for an educational setting
• Does not contain harmful, offensive, or illegal material

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or that we reasonably consider to be inappropriate.

7. Voice features

QuizCards includes optional voice features that use speech-to-text (so you can speak your answers) and text-to-speech (so questions can be read aloud to you).

How voice features work

• Completely optional: You do not have to use voice features. You can always type your answers instead.
• On-device processing: Speech recognition uses your device's built-in capabilities (such as the Web Speech API in your browser). Your voice is processed locally on your device.
• Not recorded by us: We do not record, store, or send your voice to our servers.
• Microphone permission: Your browser or device will ask for permission to use the microphone. You can say no, and QuizCards will still work without voice features.

Please note: Some browsers (such as Google Chrome) may send audio to their own cloud servers for processing as part of the Web Speech API. This is controlled by your browser, not by QuizCards. Check your browser's privacy settings for more details.

8. Service availability

We work hard to keep QuizCards running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will be available 100% of the time. QuizCards is provided "as is" and "as available".

There may be times when QuizCards is temporarily unavailable due to:

• Planned maintenance and updates
• Unexpected technical issues or outages
• Issues with third-party services we rely on (such as Firebase or hosting providers)

Where possible, we will try to give advance notice of planned downtime. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by the platform being temporarily unavailable.

9. Free tier and premium features

QuizCards is currently free to use. We believe education should be accessible, so there will always be a free version of QuizCards available.

In the future, we may introduce optional premium features or paid plans that offer additional functionality. If we do:

• The core features of QuizCards will remain free
• We will clearly explain what is included in any paid plan before you are asked to pay
• You will never be charged without your explicit consent
• Paid features will be clearly marked and separate from the free tier

We will update these terms if and when premium features are introduced.

10. Account suspension and termination

When we may suspend or remove your account

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently delete your account if:

• You break any of these Terms of Service
• You use QuizCards in a way that could harm other users or the platform
• We are required to do so by law
• Your account has been inactive for an extended period (we will notify you before doing this)

Where possible, we will warn you before taking action and give you a chance to fix the issue.

When you want to leave

You can delete your account at any time. When you delete your account:

• Your personal data will be removed within 30 days
• Any quizzes you created may be removed or anonymised
• This action cannot be undone

To delete your account, use the option in the app or email us at info@quizcards.co.uk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales:

• QuizCards is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
• We do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted
• We are not responsible for any loss of data, loss of learning time, or any indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of QuizCards
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of QuizCards shall not exceed the amount you have paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes:

• The "last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised
• For significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email
• If you continue to use QuizCards after the changes take effect, you are agreeing to the updated terms

If you do not agree with any changes, you may stop using QuizCards and delete your account at any time.

13. Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable by a court, the rest of the terms will still apply.
